ZHANG, YichenChairman, Chief Executive Officer

Yichen ZHANG is the Chairman and CEO of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited. Mr. Zhang began his career on Wall Street in 1987 at Greenwich Capital Markets. He later joined Bank of Tokyo as Head of Proprietary Trading, and Merrill Lynch as Managing Director of Debt Capital Market for Greater China. In 2000, he joined CITIC Group as the President of CITIC Pacific Communications and Executive Director for CITIC Pacific (now CITIC Limited). He founded CITIC Capital in 2002 and has been involved in all phases of the firm’s development since then. Under his leadership, CITIC Capital has led a number of landmark deals, investing in some of China’s leading companies, including McDonald’s China, Alibaba, Sina, Harbin Pharmaceutical, SF Express, AsiaInfo and Focus Media. He is the Chairman of McDonald's master franchised business in China & Hong Kong, the Chairman of Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Holding Company, the Chairman of GNC, as well as the Chairman of Universal Medical. He also sits on the boards of HKEX, Vanke, AsiaInfo, SF Express, and the Russia-China Investment Fund.

Mr. Zhang is a leader in the alternative investment industry. He is an Executive Committee member and former chairman of the China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA). He is also a vice chairman in Beijing Private Equity Association (BPEA), Tianjin Private Equity Association, and a vice chairman of the PE and Buyout Funds Committee under the Asset Management Association of China (AMAC).

Mr. Zhang is also a leader in political, economic and social communities. He is a member of the Eleventh, Twelfth and Thirteenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Senior Vice Chairman of Center for China and Globalization (CCG), a member of the Board of Trustees at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a council member of Future Forum, and a board member of Aiyou Foundation.

He obtained his degree in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A strong believer in education, Mr. Zhang has been supporting Phillips Academy Andover as a trustee, Yale Asia Development Council as a council member, Dalton Foundation as a board member, Duke Kunshan University as an advisory board member, Westlake University as an external board member, and the Tianjin Juilliard School as an advisory board member.

ZHANG, HaitaoVice Chairman, President, Head of Asset Management

​Dr. Haitao Zhang is the Vice Chairman and President of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited. He is also the Head of CITIC Capital Asset Management. Dr. Zhang has over 20 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining the company in 2002, he was the Chief Investment Officer at China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), managing the country's foreign exchange reserves.

Dr. Zhang received a Ph.D. in Finance from the People's University of China, Beijing.

QIAN, GuorongVice Chairman, President of CITIC Capital Equity Investment (Tianjin)

​Dr. Guorong Qian is the Vice Chairman of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited and President of CITIC Capital Equity Investment (Tianjin) Corporation Limited. Prior to this, he was the Executive Vice President of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited where he held various senior management positions since joining the firm in 2002. Before joining CITIC Capital, he was the General Manager of Brokerage and Asset Management department in CITIC Securities and the General Mana​​ger of Ka Wah Capital. Previously, he worked as the Managing Director at China VentureTech Investment Company in Hong Kong where he ran the corporate finance, securities and asset management departments.

Dr. Qian was once an Associate Professor at China​'s Liaoning University lecturing international finance. He was also a guest lecturer in economics at the University of North Carolina.  He received a Ph.D. from the Fin​​ance Institute of the People's Bank of China.

XU, ZhichaoVice Chairman, Head of Special Situations, President of CITIC Capital (Ningbo) Investment Management

Dr. Zhichao Xu is the Vice Chairman of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited. He heads CITIC Capital’s Special Situations business, and is the President of CITIC Capital (Ningbo) Investment Management Company Limited. Dr. Xu has profound knowledge and experience in financial risk management, institutional risk management and asset disposal, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and asset management. Prior to joining the company, he was the Chairman of China Trust Protection Fund Co., Ltd. From 2000 to 2014, he held various senior positions at China Cinda Asset Management Co., Ltd., including Director of Legal Department, Director of Market Development Department, Chairman of the Asset Disposal Review Committee, General Counsel, Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive. Before Cinda, he was the General Manager of Wuhan International Trust and Investment Co. Ltd, Chief Economist of Beijing Vantone Holdings Co., Ltd. and Vice President of Vantone Group, and Deputy Director of The Economic System Reform Institute of China.

Dr. Xu holds a Doctoral degree in Management from Huazhong University of Science & Technology and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Renmin University of China. He studied for a Doctoral program in Economics at Aarhus University of Denmark. He is also an awardee of special government allowances of the State Council.

FUNG, AnnieChief Operating Officer, Senior Managing Director

​​Annie Fung is CITIC Capital’s Chief Operating Officer, who has overall responsibility for the company’s strategic planning and development for new businesses, products and markets. She also oversees the investment process and risk management of the company’s principal investment activities and leads the management of the company’s investor and corporate relations, human resources & administration, and information technology operations. 

Ms. Fung began her career with Citigroup in 1984 and held various roles at the U.S. bank, including Global Product Head of Alternative Investments for Citigroup Private Bank, was formerly a senior banker for Citigroup Private Bank in Asia Pacific, and also worked for its corporate and investment banking arm. 

​Ms. Fung received a B.A. in Business Administration with Honors from The University of Hong Kong. ​

CHAN, EricChief Financial Officer, Senior Managing Director

Eric Chan is the Chief Financial Officer and a Senior Managing Director of CITIC Capital. He heads up various businesses in Principal Investments and is an investment committee member of CITIC Capital and various funds. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chan was an investment professional at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and the International Finance Corporation responsible for both direct investments and fund investments in Asia. He previously worked for Deloitte and had corporate finance experience with both listed companies and merchant bank.

Mr. Chan received a M.Sc. in Finance from the London Business School and a BBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

CHEUNG, EmilSenior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Structured Investment & Finance

​​Emil Cheung is CITIC Capital's Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner and Head of Structured Investment and Finance​ Group. Prior to joining the firm, he was at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Societe Generale Asia Limited and the Bank of China, specializing in investment banking, corporate finance and direct investment. 

Mr. Cheung received an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales and a B.A. from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.​​​​​​​​

CHEW, BoonSenior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital

Boon Chew is CITIC Capital's Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital and has been with the firm since its establishment in 2002. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chew worked for Whitney & Co., joining as an Associate in 2000. Previously, he worked in the Private Equity and Corporate Finance divisions of Morgan Stanley in New York City and ​​Singapore and at Charterhouse Development Capital, a private equity firm, in London.

Mr. Chew received a B.B.A. from The University of Michigan, with Honors.​​​​​​​​​

CHING, StanleySenior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Real Estate

Stanley Ching is CITIC Capital's Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner and Head of CITIC Capital Real Estate Group. Mr. Ching has over 20 years of professional experience in investment management, investment banking and corporate banking with China focus. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for HSBC Group, Societe Generale Asia (Hong Kong and Shanghai) and Industrial Bank of Japan. 

Mr. Ching received an M.Sc. in Finance from Temple University and a B.A. from the University of West ​Florida. He also received a Diploma in Chinese Law from Peking University.​​​​

NAKANO, HironobuSenior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital Japan

​Hironobu Nakano is CITIC Capital's Senior Managing Director and Managing Partner of Trustar Capital, Head of Japan Private Equity. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Managing Director at the Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan (IRCJ) and a Founding Partner of Advantage Partners Inc, one of Japan's leading private equity firms. 

Mr. Nakano received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.​Sc. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo in Japan. ​​

WANG, FangluSenior Managing Director, Managing Partner of ESG Group

​Fanglu Wang is CITIC Capital’s Senior Managing Director and Managing Partner of CITIC Capital ESG Group. He is also the Chief Investment Officer of CITIC Kazyna Investment Fund I. He has over 25 years of experience in capital markets, corporate finance, financial engineering and risk management. He has led several major capital raising transactions for the China Ministry of Finance and other major corporations. Mr. Wang was the former Head of Product Marketing and Sales for China at HSBC, a Director in Investment Banking and De​​bt Capital Markets at Merrill Lynch Asia, a Vice President at Citibank Hong Kong and an Executive Director at Sakura Global Capital. 

Mr. Wang received an M.A. in Statistics from the University of Chicago, a B.Sc​​. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Journalism from Fudan University in Shanghai. ​​

XIN, Eric Y.S.Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital

​Eric Xin is CITIC Capital's Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital and has been with the firm since 2002. Previously, Mr. Xin was a management consultant ​at Mckinsey & Company in Shanghai and Washington D.C focusing on helping Japanese and U.S multinationals source and set up factories in China. Before that, he was a Deputy Manager for China Leasing Co., Ltd., the largest leasing company in China and a subsidiary of CITIC Group.

Mr. Xin received an MBA from the Harvard Business School with Honors and a B.A. in Economics from Beijing University.​​

ZHAO, HanxiSenior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital

Hanxi Zhao is a Senior Managing Director, Managing Partner of Trustar Capital and has been with the firm since 2007. ​Previously, Ms. Zhao worked in Strategy Planning and Marketing for Dow Jones & Company in U.S. and Asia. Before that, she worked as a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in U.S., and as a Brand Man​ager at Procter & Gamble in China.

Ms. Zhao received an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a B.A. from Wuhan University.​​​​
